Reviews and photos: the free marketing that outsells ads
Flowers are bought on trust. The sender usually can’t see the bouquet, can’t visit the shop, and is often in another city entirely. So they decide the way all of us do now: they look at your photos, and they read what other people say. Both are free. Both are built by habit, not budget.
Why reviews beat advertising
An ad is you saying you’re good; a review is a stranger saying it. When a buyer compares two shops, recent reviews are among the most persuasive things they’ll see, and “recent” matters as much as the star count. A shop with fresh reviews from this month looks alive; a higher-rated shop whose last review is a year old looks closed.
The habit that builds them
You don’t need many words, you need a moment and a link.
- Ask at the peak: right after the thank-you message, not a week later.
- Make it one tap: a direct review link or QR code in a text or on a small card, as Google itself suggests.
- Reply to every review, kindly, Google recommends replying, and the reply is marketing to the next reader.
- Never buy or fake reviews. Google prohibits offering incentives for reviews, and one discovered fake can cost more than fifty real ones earn.
Photograph everything good that leaves your counter
One clear photo of each bouquet you’re proud of, in daylight, before it goes out, that’s the whole technique. In a month you have thirty real images for your profile and your social pages; in a year, an archive no stock library can match. It’s your actual work, and that’s exactly what buyers want to see. Google’s own guidance on business photos asks for the same: in focus, well lit, and true to life.
Quick answers
What about negative reviews?
Answer quickly, without arguing: acknowledge, explain briefly, offer to fix it. Future customers judge you on the reply far more than on the complaint.
The photo habit pays twice, by the way: on MaestroFlor, one clear photo of the finished bouquet is also what releases the last 10% of your payout, before the flowers leave your shop. How getting paid works.
